Scenario of Use for Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)
Verisae Executive User:
Vice President of Maintenance
for a Major Food Retailer with hundreds of stores
***
“No matter how organized I was on paper, I was never able to trace maintenance events to specific facilities efficiently enough to catch real problems before the costs of resolving them had me over budget. It could take weeks for an invoice to reach my payables department, even from the most reliable outside contractor. The necessary lag from event, to work order, to repair, to invoice could easily run me in the tens of thousands of dollars before I even knew there was a problem.
As Vice President of Maintenance of a national retailer, it’s my job to monitor the implementation of each location’s fixtures and equipment, identify facilities that are experiencing unreasonable repair demands, facilitate preventative maintenance strategies and streamline the entire process keeping maintenance expenditures in alignment with or below the company’s financial forecasts. What became painfully obvious was that I needed a way to see where and how much of the company’s money was being spent on maintenance and, significantly, I needed a way to see it as soon as the event happened!
Verisae Enterprise Asset
Management provided me with the tools to do just that. Verisae has given me instant access to the physical condition of all of the company’s assets, no matter where they are located and it’s all done electronically. Here’s how it works: A refrigeration unit in Boston breaks down. The manager gets on the internet and sends the information to a call center where a preferred vendor list for that particular location is pulled up. The vendor is contacted almost immediately and a work order is submitted online. The vendor sends out its contractor who logs in at an on-site kiosk, diagnoses and takes care of the problem, records all of the data requested regarding the repair, including costs of labor and materials, and logs off. The vendor receives this information instantaneously; an invoice is generated and e-mailed to my payables department. How does this process solve my problems? Easy - I get to monitor the entire process from my office in Chicago!
Now I know exactly which stores are in line with projections. I know exactly which stores are performing as expected and, significantly, those that need my focus because the repairs and maintenance are costing the company unallocated dollars. Thanks to Verisae, the excess costs incurred in the past as a result of outdated systems’ management and paper trails have virtually been wiped out!”
