National Energy Manager, Multi-Site Retailer

“As the costs of power increase and demand response becomes more of an issue across the board, the ability for me to effectuate an enterprise-wide control system is critical to my company’s performance and the sustainability of increasing profit margins.

The most critical information I need as the Energy Manager of a large food retail chain is accurate detail regarding what each store is spending per square foot at any given time on electricity, gas and water. Verisae’s Enterprise Energy Management feature allows me to access this information from my desk at a moment’s notice. Not only that, but the program provides me with detailed historical billing data identifying what my company is spending per site, per month. The detail is so specific that I am able to generate lists reflecting, for argument’s sake, my top ten energy expenditures at each of the store locations as a point of comparison. This gives me a benchmark for identifying problem stores.

Combined with other features available through Verisae, such as the Enterprise Asset Management feature, I am able to strategize and implement processes by which excess energy spending is curtailed. For example, I can see what store “X” was spending before and after a refrigeration event, or asset procurement, or a repair or maintenance call on a particular asset. Whether the response to that event was the most energy effective solution, once ignored, is now critical when talking about streamlining operations and impact on the bottom line. Thus, I can see where stores aren’t using power in the most efficient way and focus in on those problem areas. Ultimately, I’m looking to minimize the cash that flows from the energy expended by the company.

Verisae has helped me not only trace spending to a particular asset at a particular location with great detail, but, combined with other Verisae tools, it has increased my ability to monitor energy use, implement change efficiently and keep energy costs down.”
