ERM - Enterprise Refrigerant Manager™ for North American and F-Gas for UK and Europe

Refrigerant tracking at your locations is critical to the environment and your bottom line. Refrigerant management is mandated in several countries.  Are you in compliance?

Recording and understanding the use of refrigerants that are considered potentially dangerous to the environment is an important part of managing the operation of your facilities. As part of the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) guidelines and requirements, owners of refrigeration equipment are required to provide specific monitoring of refrigerant usage and document methods and efforts of containment.  Software is now available for F-Gas regulation compliance for the European Union. Verisae announced today Environmental Compliance Software for the European Market. Enterprise Refrigerant Manager (ERM) is a web-based software program allowing users to track refrigerants based on EC Regulation 842/2006 in the UK and European Union. The law complies with Kyoto Protocol requirements for Greenhouse Gas reductions. The new software focuses on multi-site owners with a high concentration of refrigerants in their facilities, such as Food Retailers.

The new regulations require owners of most fluorinated greenhouse gases to track leaks, disposal and repair of systems. The regulations effect Commercial Refrigeration, HVAC and Fire Protection systems over 3Kg. Verisae’s ERM software allow users to ensure prompt leakage repairs systematic leak checking, verification for calibrated leak detection devices for systems over 300kg, and proper record keeping to ensure technicians are certified.

Retailers are searching for ways to enhance their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and have a positive impact to the large bottom line impact,” said Paul Wickberg, President and Chief Operating Officer of Verisae. “Our clients want to comply with the new laws, but also want to lower their Carbon Footprint and reduce expenses.  This new software program allows them to do both.” Several retailers have chosen Verisae’s ERM software in the US where the EPA Clean Air Act mandates similar restrictions on refrigerants. The European version of ERM complies strictly with EU laws. Learn more about the UK Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (defra) guidance on EC Regulation 842/2006.

European or North American systems face the same problems: Manual systems are labor intensive, slow, and more prone to errors and omissions. Verisae’s system provides a fast and accurate implementation of a comprehensive, yet simple-to-use solution to this immediate issue. In addition, we have extensive experience with our software-based survey tool used in rapid deployment of site surveys for tagging and populating our Enterprise Asset Management system. This powerful and comprehensive survey process has provided the foundation for our Refrigerant Site Survey Service. Verisae can deliver services to quickly collect information and calculate, based on an EPA approved method, the amount of refrigerant contained in each of your existing systems when at full charge, and other required information at the site. This eliminates the need for you to organize and implement the physical survey of each location, which will be required before approved calculations for refrigerant use can be made.

Verisae Enterprise Refrigerant Manager (ERM) is a web-based solution to control refrigerant use. Go beyond the necessity of refrigerant tracking and save money by managing leaks and their causes.

Verisae makes it easy to manage and control refrigerant related events across your enterprise. With Verisae ERM, one person can oversee hundreds of locations and thousands of systems.

“Verisae ERM saves us time by allowing our organization to manage by exceptions.", said the manager of maintenance at a National Chain.

Our system gives the appropriate values to refrigerants for Global Warming value, or Greenhouse Gas values for different refrigerants.

Important Facts about EPA Compliance in the United States:

1. Many of the EPA inspections are the result of disgruntled employees and customers. Verisae limits database access to only those people who “need to know.”

2.  A large percentage of the companies that have incurred fines merely for paperwork violations.

Common questions regarding the EPA’s record keeping requirements:

Question 1. “I have the actual invoices of refrigerant additions, what could be better than that?”

Answer: Will your records actually show failure to meet the minimum requirements? Contact us to learn more about the ability to use Verisae to gain compliance.

Question 2: “We fix all leaks, isn’t that good enough for the EPA?”

Answer: No! The EPA requires the owners and operators of systems with over 50 pounds of ozone depleting refrigerant keep accurate and detailed records to demonstrate that the equipment is not leaking more than 35% annually for refrigeration and 15% for comfort cooling. Given one of the EPA approved calculations, adding 10 pounds of refrigerant to a 100 pound system 30 days after a previous leak results in a 122% leak rate.

Question 3: “My contractors are EPA certified, don’t they know the regulations? Won’t they keep us in compliance with the EPA rules?”

Answer: It is the responsibility of the Owner- Operator of the refrigerant equipment to make sure their system is in compliance not the contractor!

EPA Refrigerant Related Fines:

For various violations 18 companies were fined a combined total of $24,719,767 plus two firms were charged $5,500,000 in retrofits.
