Verisae Supports Executive Order 13514
Verisae Offers Sustainability Solutions in Support of Executive Order 13514
Federal Agencies’ Sustainability Officers Scramble to Aggressively Plan Emissions and Energy Reduction Initiatives
Minneapolis, November 23, 2009 – Issued by President Obama in early October, Executive Order 13514 (“EO”) promises an integrated approach to sustainability across federal agencies. All agencies must submit a comprehensive strategic sustainability and performance plan by the beginning of 2010. The EO represents a challenge for many sustainability planners, as agencies must first understand the scale of energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions across their entire organizations. The agencies then have less than 90 days to develop, implement and update a comprehensive sustainability plan.
The concept of sustainability requires extensive collaboration and unprecedented levels of detail across an entire organization. Verisae's Sustainability Resource Planning (SRP) platform provides agencies with near real-time monitoring of energy and carbon usage data that is critical to implementing any plan to reduce emissions and energy consumption. By delivering a suite of solutions via an integrated, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, Verisae allows its clients to implement across a distributed enterprise concurrently, and to add modules as the organization increases the complexity of its sustainability efforts.
The federal government is the largest energy consumer in the country; it employs more than 1.8 million civilians, operates more than 600,000 vehicles and occupies half a million buildings. This Executive Order is therefore expected to drive a significant reduction in the country's overall energy usage, emissions footprint and resource consumption. The EO is timed well, as nations from around the world gather in Denmark to expand climate change legislation first enacted in Kyoto.
