How IT Works
Verisae’s Energy Demand Manager product is an Internet-based application that allows the distributed enterprise the capability to monitor, track, analyze, control, and optimize the energy performance of assets and equipment in one or many facilities. Packaged together with industry leading IP- addressable active energy data appliances, we offer products to support the growing demands of efficient energy initiatives.
To be effective with energy efficiency programs, facilities must be optimized, be well maintained, and be controllable via building automation hardware. The facilities management industry shows the potential exists to capture average energy savings of 5% to 10% or even + 20% by automating and making existing buildings smarter as it relates to energy monitoring, efficiency improvements, and control of energy intensive equipment.
To achieve these efficiencies, Verisae implements energy management services in the following manner.
Install intelligent smart meters and equipment controllers
The data from the main electric meter, main gas meter, and four (4) sub-meters are collected by installed hardware equipment on-site, consisting of a data manager, IP hub, pulse counter, and associated transducers and current transformers. This metered data is collected on regular intervals and aggregated into a central database.
Implement a communications platform to exchange energy data
The energy management system collects the meter information and through a mathematical calculation, in part dependent on the meter multiplier will generate usage and demand data. This data is made available in the application for use by automated or human generated processes. The data will then be used to generate reports, alerts based on exceptions and anomalies, and fed to the energy analysis application for further auditing and reporting.
Bring energy consumption into view by the organization
With the increased visibility into energy usage, organizations can engage in work process re-design and operations management. Additional opportunities appear to take advantage of asset-level optimization through either retrofitting or redirect replacement when energy data is analyzed in detail.
Initiate active energy management to reduce consumption
The final stage of energy management comes through Demand Response (DR) enablement with pre-configured stages and “proven energy curtailment”. Demand response capabilities are a subset of demand side energy management, which also includes energy efficiency and conservation. DR is an integral part of a corporate energy management strategy.
